Our Philosophy
Every mealtime is an opportunity to nourish your child's developing body and mind. It's a chance to encourage exploration, discovery, and habit-setting around food. The Feeding Consultant provides children with a solid nutritional foundation that will benefit them in each and every chapter of their lives.
My philosophy is simple yet effective. Having a support system is essential, but choosing the right tools for your family can make all the difference. I get to know your child on a deeper level, which allows me to filter through the overwhelming amount of data available and provide you with realistic, tailored tools suited to their unique developmental stage, lifestyle, and emotional and physical needs. I meet parents where they're at and help them feel confident about their feeding choices. My solutions are based on the latest research, ensuring that families are meeting all of their nutritional needs so parents have one less thing on their plate. You and your little ones will feel empowered with practical ways to reinforce independent thinking, foster intuitive decisions, and promote sustainable habits. Join me in shaping the next generation of adventurous eaters.

The ODNQ (L’Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec) is Quebec’s regulatory organization for Registered Dietitians. It is dedicated to protecting the public. The ODNQ currently has 3300 members and strives to maintain the highest level of competence amongst its members.
-
The ODNQ’s core values are integrity, excellence, courage and social responsibility. These beliefs are what make this organization so effective. In Quebec, a person cannot legally call themselves a Registered Dietitian/ Nutritionist without being a member of the ODNQ.
What does that mean for you? By working with an ODNQ Registered Dietitian like The Feeding Consultant, you will be in the hands of the most qualified nutrition expert. All professional activities must abide by the code of conduct set in the Guide Explicatif | CMQ-ODNQ and the Code de déontologie des diététistes ensuring the gold standard in ethical and clinical practices in a constantly evolving industry.
-
In order to become a member of the ODNQ, applicants must have already completed four years in a university program resulting in a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics or Nutritional Sciences. Such majors require a 40-week internship that is spread throughout the entire program. Graduates come out prepared for eligibility to join a provincial regulatory body in Canada like the ODNQ. Once members, they are required to complete annual continuing education to stay up-to-date on the latest research throughout their careers. Members of the ODNQ are knowledgeable experts whose goal is to simplify the language of nutrition science into clear terms you can understand so you can get one step closer to your goals.

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a healthcare professional that specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. The IBLCE certification is the highest qualification that a Lactation Specialist can attain. IBCLC members are recognized in 131 countries and are assets to all sorts of wellness environments: specialized nurseries, neonatal intensive care units, health agencies, hospitals, pediatric clinics and more, in addition to private practices like mine.
-
Anyone can call themselves a Lactation Specialist, Breastfeeding Counsellor or even a Lactation Consultant. However, IBCLC members are the only practitioners who have met the strict requirements of both the IBCLE Code of Professional Conduct and the International Code of Breast-milk Substitutes. Certified professionals strive to work in alignment with The World Health Organization’s data, values and goals for a better tomorrow.
What does that mean for you? IBCLCs are clinically trained to help mothers reach their personal breastfeeding goals, whatever they may be: from milk supply, latching, breast irregularities, nipple-related pains, tongue ties and cleft palates, all the way to more advanced issues such as mastitis and premature feeding. The Feeding Consultant is here to identify the source of any pain, the reasons why previous or current patterns haven’t worked in your favour, and what you can do about it. By working with me, you will receive the highest clinical and ethical care standard.
-
Before sitting down for the comprehensive IBCLC board exam, applicants must have already completed the following within a 5-year span: 14 subject models set forth in The Health Sciences and Education Guide, a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised, hands-on training in a lactation-specific clinical setting, and 95 hours of lactation-specific education which include training in communication strategies.
Once the applicant has passed the International IBCLC exam, they officially become certified and must apply for re-certification every 5 years to meet the rigorous standards of the IBCLE (The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners). This ensures that members stay abreast of the latest research.
